28 MPs took advantage of almost £225,000 in wages and freebies from gambling industry

Since August 2020, 28 MPs or specifically 19 Conservatives and nine Labour were beneficiaries of around £225,000 in wages and freebies from the gambling industry, according to The Guardian.

Following new gambling laws and regulations around the UK has been a busy month for the gambling industry on both hospitality and political fulmination.

One of the MPs that made The Guardian list was MP Scott Benton. Benton warned the parliament that new betting laws and regulations must not be driven by anti-gambling ideology. He called that casinos should be allowed to have more slot machines and that people would be concerned with the Gamblings Commission affordability checks about online betting. This is due to the fact that the online gambling sector is one of the biggest sectors in the UK, and in 2020, it had a revenue of £5.7 billion.

The total value of MPs being paid by the gambling industry amounted to  £224,281. Still, all of the hospitality and salaries were declared to the register of members’ interest, in line with the parliamentary rules.
