Kevin De Bruyne, Jorginho and N’Golo Kante nominated for the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year award

Kevin De Bruyne, Ngolo Kante and Jorginho make this year three-man shortlist for the UEFA Player of the Year award, while the UEFA Women’s Player of the Year award nominees are Jennifer Hermoso, Lieke Martens and Alexia Putellas.

Belgium and Manchester City’s attacking midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has been nominated for this award for the second year in a row. This year he helped City to win the English Premier League, and they reached the UEFA Champions League final, where they lost to Chelsea.

The next two players on the shortlist both come from this year’s Champions League and Super Cup winner, Chelsea. However, the Italian Jorginho has a slight advantage over his midfield partner, N’Golo Kante, as he also won the EURO title with Italy.

In the meantime, Roberto Mancini, Thomas Tuchel and Pep Guardiola have been nominated for UEFA’s Men award, also known as the manager of the season award.

On the other hand, Barcelona dominates UEFA’s Women’s Player of the Year award, as all three players took part in Barcelona 4-0 win against Chelsea in the Women’s Champions League final. Additionally, Hermoso finished as a joint top scorer in this competition. The Women’s Coach of the year nominees are Chelsea’s head coach Emma Hayes, Barcelona’s coach Lluis Cortes and Sweden’s manager Peter Gerhardsson.

The winners will be announced on August 36 at the Halic Congress Center in Istanbul, where the draw ceremony for this year’s Champions League will be held.
