Betway launches “Battle of Betway” eSports tournament

The online gambling company Betway will launch the latest Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament (The Battle of Betway), which shows its commitment to the esports and esports betting sectors.

Betway has scheduled the tournament for 26 October, which is right before the CS:GO Stockholm Major tournament. The competition’s prize pool is still unknown, but it is not expected to come near the prize pool of The International 2019, which in 2019 was at $34.33 million.

The Battle of Betway will be played with a best-of-one (BO1) format, and teams such as BIG, NiP, MIBR, G2 and FURIA are already in the competition. On the other hand, Alexandre ‘Gaules’ Borba, Anders Blume, and Auguste ‘Semmler’ Massonnat will also appear for broadcasting.

Esports Director of BG Marketing Services, Admin Savinson, said that the Battle of Betway is one of the most ambitious CS:GO and eSports sponsorships and has brought teams from all around the globe to compete against each other.

Betway continues to attract interest from the traditional sports betting space, as now the Malta-based operator has established a strong presence in esports by partnering up with some of the most notable esports organisations such as MIBR, G2 and PSG.LGD Dota 2 team.
If we take a closer look at the cumulative prize pool by tournaments, we can see that just in the first half of 2021, Counter-Strike Global Offensive tournaments accumulated to $7.98 million.
