UK’s Playdemic sold to Electronic Arts for £1.04 billion

The latest addition by Electronic Arts is the UK based company Playdemic, which is well known for its Golf Clash franchise. The California based company is the third-largest gaming company worldwide, and some of its most popular games are Battlefield, The Sims, and other sport games such as FIFA and Madden NFL. Fifa is one of the most popular games of EA, and in 2021, FIFA 18 had over 11.8 million copies sold; however, the best-selling game in 2021 is Marvel’s Spider-Man, with over 20 million sold units.

In order to expand and move its sports and mobile gaming business to the UK, EA paid around £1.04 billion to Playdemic-owner, making it the largest deal in the company’s history.

EA’s chief executive Andrew Wilson said they are thrilled to officially welcome the Playdemic team to Electronic Arts. He also added that this not only strengthens their mobile teams globally but also continues their expansion and investment in UK-based talent.

On the other hand, the founder of Playdemic, Paul Gouge, said they are excited to become a part of the Electronic Arts family. They will also continue to build on the incredible success of Golf Clash and build new games that will entertain and engage the audience worldwide.
