Alexander Zverev wins ATP Cincinnati

Alexander Zverev continued his impressive form and his unbeaten run to 11 matches as he brushed aside Rublev in Cincinnati’s men final. After winning a gold medal at the Olympics, this was the second title in a row for the German. The 24-year-old was better during the whole match and won the match in two sets, 6-2 6-3.

This was Zverev’s fifth ATP Masters title and his second this year, which now makes him one of the favourites for the upcoming Grand Slam, the US Open. Just a reminder, the German was last year finalist at the US Open, where he lost against one of the best tennis players on tour Dominic Thiem.

Ashleigh Barty wins WTA Cincinnati.

The World number one in women’s tennis, Ashleigh Barty, warmed up for the US Open by winning the Cincinnati Open tournament. The Australian won in two straight sets over the Swiss Jil Teichmann, allowing her to score only four games (6-3 6-1).

The 24-year-old Swiss entered the tournament on a wild card and managed to reach the final by winning over some of the best women tennis players right now, like Naomi Osaka, Karolina Pliskova and Belinda Bencic.
