Admiral Casino owner fined £685k for failing to minimise ‘gambling harms’

After a Gambling Commission investigation this morning, the online gambling business Greeentube Alderney will have to pay £685,000 after the report revealed social responsibility and money laundering failures.

Admiralcasino.co.uk and bellfruitcasino.com will also undergo independent investigations for the failures which occurred between December 2019 and November 2020.

The Gambling Act 2005 requires operators to prevent gambling from being a source of crime, and licensed gambling operators have a legal duty to ensure their gambling facilities comply. That is something that all licensed operators need to aim for since over 18 million people gambled in licensed gambling premises in 2019.

The investigation by the UK Gambling Commission revealed that the operator failed to interact with customers to minimise the risk of customers experiencing gambling harms and failed to implement appropriate policies and procedures to control and prevent money laundering.

The Commission Executive Director Helen Venn said that these rules aim to keep people safe that they will always take actions against the operators who fail to meet their standards.
